Biography:

Katharina Boser, Ph.D. has a doctorate in developmental psychology and cognitive science from Cornell University. She has a research background studying language processing in early development and language impairments in both adults and children. She was on the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine until 2005 where she studied cognitive skills in subjects with autism and published on the use of computerized language systems for this population. She currently serves as the Chair for the Innovative Technology Committee for Autism Speaks and is a scientific advisor for technology for children with autism with Anthrotronix, (http://atinc.com). She is the president of Individual Differences in Learning (IDL) http://gifteddifferentlearners.org in Howard County, MD and produced professional development materials with video DVDs entitled, "Walking the Path with the Twice Exceptional Learner: Understanding the paradox of exceptional strengths and weaknesses".

In 2008, she organized a conference entitled "What Works and Why: Unmasking student strengths through innovative learning experiences" whose mission was to provide interactive workshops and lectures on child-centered, multi-sensory and career-based teaching approaches to help different learners succeed. In 2009, she co-organized "Designing for Students with a Disability" a workshop at the Human Computer Interaction Lab's Symposium at University of Maryland. In addition to presentations and academic research on learning and teaching in a wide range of 'different' learners, Dr. Boser is involved curriculum development for teachers at University of Maryland University College to include more on integrating technologies for "neurologically" diverse learners.
